Pittsburgh, PA: Motorcyclist suffered fatal injury after crash with truck in Penn Hills.

Pennsylvania – June 7, 2022

A 44-year-old motorcyclist who was hit by a truck suffered fatal injury at the scene of the Penn Hills accident according to law enforcement personnel. Allegheny County police officers stated they were notified around 7:36 a.m. of a crash involving a truck and a motorcycle in the 1100 block of Milltown Road. When first responders arrived on the scene, they found a male motorcyclist who succumbed to the crash injury.  The truck driver was not injured. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration works against motorcyclist dangers through state guidelines and safety program development aimed at reducing crashes.  Federal Motor Vehicle Standard 218 regarding helmet use, in concert with requirements for protective gear, proper licensing, impaired riding education, rider training, conspicuity, and motorist awareness should be included in programming.  Surviving loved ones of a fatal motorcycle accident may wonder: “Where can I find attorneys near me?” to assist with guidance and necessary actions to file insurance claims to access timely payment for costs related to unexpected funeral and burial expenses, and for further wrongful death litigation to recoup losses that will negatively impact surviving loved ones.

Motorcyclist blame.

Accident parties often blame motorcyclists and claim they did not see a biker because they were driving erratically, but motorcycle accidents happen when other drivers are distracted and cannot avoid a crash with a motorcyclist.  When a car, or truck makes impact with a motorcyclist, the likelihood of significant bodily harm and fatal injury increases, as riders are likely to hit the ground, be ejected into the air before landing, or absorb the impact of the accident in full force on their body with no protection from a metal framework. Many injuries can be catastrophic, varying by severity, including brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, loss of limbs, severe burns, and lacerations.

Wrongful death litigation.

Losing a loved one is devastating but surviving family must hold negligent drivers accountable for that loss. Contact skilled legal counsel who will build a case under Title 42, Chapter 83 of the Pennsylvania General Statutes, Section 8301, defining wrongful death as one that is “caused by the wrongful act, or negligence of another.”  Beneficiaries must be mindful of Pennsylvania’s two year statute of limitations to initiate a lawsuit and contact an experienced accident attorney soon after a catastrophic motorcycle crash for guidance and support through the legal process.

Hire an experienced lawyer.

If a wrongful death lawsuit or insurance settlement claim is necessary to recover damage compensation after the loss of a loved one in a motorcycle crash, accident victims will need to seek the advice of an accident lawyer in Pennsylvania to determine their options.
